Whitman graduate offering beginning piano/clarinet lessons (elementary and middle school students) at your home over the summer. For more information, please email Jennie at msjenniey@gmail.com.
2. Please Consider Joining RefAmerica in Welcoming Resettled Syrian Refugees.
Host Families: If you have an available extra room this summer, please consider welcoming a refugee son or daughter into your home and family for a month (July 2018) as he/she participates in the program. We still need two to three more host families. Families are invited to participate in fun and interesting events.
RefAmerica is seeking host families to help make possible its cross-cultural leadership program which brings together in the nation's capital six or seven Syrian refugee high school students (ages 16-19) and a comparable number of local American counterpart teens. Each Syrian refugee participant has been resettled with his/her family somewhere in the United States within the past two years through the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program. The RefAmerica program provides participant refugees with tools both to tell their stories and to help forge for themselves, their families and their fellow refugees – like generations of Americans before them – a new American story. Please join RefAmerica in helping promote cross-cultural understanding and fostering a warm American welcome for refugees.
