This is a reminder that the last day for after-school activity buses will be this Thursday. Please be aware that if you stay after school after this date, you will be responsible for your own ride home.

Attention Library Advisory Board, our last meeting of the year will be today after school in the media center. Please be there to discuss ideas for next year and celebrate what we’ve done this year!
All library books are due this Friday! There are still 448 books overdue already and by Friday, there will be close to 300 more. Please turn in your books as soon as possible so that you can be sure to participate in any end of the year activities. So check under your bed, in your closet, on the floor of your mom’s car and find those books!
Women’s chorus is having an open house performance this Thursday during TAG. You will need an invitation in order to attend. There are a limited number of passes being distributed for this event. Please see Mr. Tilkens in room 123.
Attention all 8th graders: We are looking for talent for Whitman Day on June 15th! We are searching for singers, instrumentalists, poets, and more. If you are interested in being a highlight of the promotion ceremony, please speak with Ms. McSkeane or Mr. Prunier by June 1st or sooner. There is limited space to perform, so we may not be able to include all that are interested.
Attention all dancers: There will be a Jazz Dance Master Class after school on Thursday. This will be a great opportunity for experienced dancers to work on technique and learn new choreography. Students should have at least one year of jazz dance training or have participated in the cast of a Pyle musical in order to participate in the class. Class will be over at 4:15 and students can ride the activity bus home. Students should come dressed to dance in loose-fitting movement clothes and dance shoes or sneakers. Please visit the Counseling Services office to sign up for class. The deadline to sign up is Wednesday.
Every child deserves a FUN summer! Kindworks is looking for donations of new and gently used items for low income kids in Montgomery County. Any summer fun items such as balls, chalk, hula hoops, art supplies, sunscreen and games can be placed in the front entrance box at Pyle. The collection will end Thursday.
Did you know that Brazil was not only the host country for the Soccer World Cup in 2014, but also for the Olympic Games in 2016?
Find out more when you come to this week’s Culture Lunch on Friday and learn about the tastes, sounds and sights of Brazil! You can sign up to reserve a spot Wednesday or Thursday during lunch in the cafeteria. The Counseling Department and the Counseling Advisory Committee run the Culture Lunches to introduce students to different cultures and perspectives. Our Culture Lunches support Pyle’s ongoing efforts to honor diversity, which is one of Pyle’s core values.
On June 5th, Pyle will be participating in the annual Drive for Supplies during TAG. While cleaning out your lockers, please remember to place all used (but still usable) school supplies in the Drive for Supplies boxes located in the hallways. These supplies will be distributed to students in need. If your items are not reusable but recyclable, please place them in the school’s recycling bins. By donating, you are helping reduce our solid waste that ends up in landfills. You also help disadvantaged children in Montgomery County, the Washington metropolitan area, and in other countries. If you are looking for something to do this July or need student service hours, volunteer to help pack and distribute the donated school supplies. See our Drive for Supplies coordinator, Mr. Enderle.
