[pylenet] Culture Lunch: Brazil

Get ready for Culture Lunch: Brazil on Friday, June 1st!

*Discover the beauty of the Amazon Rainforest!

*Taste Brazilian treats!

*Learn about biggest Carnival celebration in the world!

Please encourage your child to come to Culture Lunch on Friday, June 1st in Room 209 and experience the traditions, flavors, and history of Brazil.

All interested students need to:

* Sign up for the Culture Lunch on Wednesday, May 30th or Thursday, May 31st in the cafeteria during lunch. Space is limited so students must sign up in advance.

* Decide whether they are bringing their own lunch from home or the cafeteria.

For students who have signed up, they may bring their own lunch from home and come directly to room 209 on Friday during their lunchtime, or buy their lunch first in the cafeteria, and then come to room 209 on Friday.

Please be aware that some food may be served during the presentation. If your child has allergies, please remind your child what steps to take (e.g. read about ingredients before eating what may be offered, alert the parent volunteers to ask).

The Counseling Department and the Counseling Advisory Committee run the Culture Lunches to introduce students to different cultures and perspectives. Our Culture Lunches support Pyle's ongoing efforts to honor diversity, which is one of Pyle's core values.  We wanted to share some feedback from students who attended Culture Lunches last year:

*"I liked learning about different places on our earth and how they are similar and different from us." –Pyle student

* "I would recommend Culture Lunches to other students at Pyle because they are AWESOME + FUN!," "because everyone feels welcomed," and "because it gives you new perspectives on different cultures."-Pyle students

*"[the Culture Lunches] cultivate interest in the diversity of our world." –Pyle student

We are so fortunate to have such a generous parent community, who volunteer with the counseling office to speak at and support these events. We hope that you will encourage your child to sign up for the Culture Lunches this year.
